Christmas Gift for a New Colleague in the Office

We have a new member in our office department. He joined our company only last week. I'm finalizing my Christmas gift list for the office and I'm not sure if I should give this new officement a gift or not since we're not yet really close. But I don't want her to feel bad, and I want her to feel welcome that's why I think it's proper to give her something. But what should I give her? Help me please...

if you are the type of person who gives generic or similar gifts to your officemates, then just give her the same gift. if not, some christmas pastries would be nice. it's also a safe present to give to someone whom you do not really know much about yet.
Give him something that he could use like a planner.
Give him baked goodies. It's perfect for close colleagues as well as for not so close colleagues.
Oops. My bad, I thought your colleague was a girl. Starbucks GC's would do. =)
