One of my best buddies is asking for my advice on a suitable Mother's Day present for his girlfriend's mom. This is the first time my friend's giving a present to his girlfriend's mom and he wants to make sure that his gift would be something that's appropriate and would be appreciated by the mom. He says his girlfriend's mom goes for practical stuff, things that are of great use in everyday life. Any gift ideas on this?

We have new neighbors living in the house beside ours. I've actually seen them a few times already.
